Hat eine Baukeramik eine Glasur, so wird der Transport von Feuchte und damit auch von Salzen behindert. Oft zeigt diese Glasur jedoch ein Craquelee, das einen kapillaren Feuchtetransport ermöglicht. Deshalb zeigt sich bei Salzbelastung am Craquelee besonders deutlich eine vorhandene Salzbelastung, die in der Folge oft zu Abplatzungen der Glasuren führt.
