Salts

To understand how soluble salts damage cultural heritage objects and to develop both effective measures against existing salt-induced damage as well as preventive ones, it is necessary to understand what salts are, how they behave or interact with their environment. In real situations, soluble salts generally appear as salt mixtures so that the behaviour of a particular salt cannot be observed independently.
