Determination of pH

More information about the necessary equipment and materials see Article Micro-chemistry.

Analytical procedure

The 1-14 pH indicator paper is dipped into the aqueous solution of the sample. The color of the pH indicator paper is compared to the color matching chart given on the wrapping.

or

The powdered sample is dispersed on a previously slightly wetted (with distilled or deionized water) pH indicator paper. The pH value in the vicinity of individual grains of the powder can be observed. This can be helpful when dealing with salt mixtures containing both alkaline earth metal sulfates and alkali carbonates.[1]
