Conference "Salts in Cultural Heritage - Challenge for Research and Practice"[edit]The Hornemann Institute held on 3rd to 5 February 2011 in cooperation with the Association of Restoration VDR a conference on the topic "Salts in Cultural Heritage. Challenge for Research and Practice". 180 guests from home and abroad heard three keynote lectures, and they many case studies on salt reduction. Many talks were given by an interdisciplinary team of authors. A particularly intensive exchange among professionals took place in the workshops on the last day. A conclusion of the conference, see: http://www.hawk-hhg.de/pressestelle/169112_169593.php The abstracts of the talks are published in the e-publications on the website of the Hornemann Institute: http://www.hornemann-institut.de/german/epubl_tagungen29.php auf Some conference contributions are available as pdf-files:

Events[edit]SWBSS 2011 - Salt Weathering on Buildings and Stone Sculptures - in Limassol, Cyprus The conference addresses salt-related problems focusing on the study of the decay mechanisms, the key parameters controlling the crystallization of salts and the development of new conservation methods and materials. The conference is open to both researchers and practitioners and it aims to provide a forum to present and discuss recent findings. Selected papers of the conference will be online as fulltext.
