SalzWiki, an Internet-based information structure, following the example of the Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia provides you with information about the following topics:
- Salts
- damages caused by salts
- Dealing with salt damage
The wiki is divided into two areas:
- The actual wiki about salts and salt damage
- A repository (for authors), with e.g. primary research data, unpublished reports, charts, illustrations and unpublished literature
Interested researchers and practitioners are invited to participate in SalzWiki, either by writing content[1] in the wiki or by uploading data in the repository. If you have comments about SalzWiki or to specific pages, please annmelden and write your comments on the discussion page which is created for each SalzWiki page.
The idea for the creation of this specialized wiki was developed in a workshop of the German Federal Environmental Foundation in February 2008, visited by experts in the conservation sciences from Denmark, England, Switzerland and Germany. The experts decided to launch a modern platform for knowledge management on the Internet. It will provide an easy and fast access to the knowledge from different disciplines to maintain the endangered cultural heritage. A support of the German Research Foundation in February 2009 allows the realization by the Hornemann Institute [2] of the HAWK [1] in Hildesheim.
